The words of Mary as recorded in the Bible, or lack of them, are important as they reveal how vital Mary was and is in various key spiritual roles. Back in the days of the apostle Paul, there was taught a dangerous and false version of Jesus, as well as, the gospel and the Spirit of God. These are referred to as another Jesus, another gospel and another Spirit in Scripture ( 2 Cor. 11:4). In our day, we could add to that list another Mary. That’s because the Catholic Church has been proclaiming a non-existent Mary for centuries. Their Mary has been hatched from what they call Sacred Tradition—to the spiritual destruction of many sincere people who do not know the message of the New Testament, but only trust their priest for spiritual guidance
Catholics Should Know The First Words Of Mary To Jesus Mentioned In Scripture
The First Words of Mary, The Mother of Jesus
The words of Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, are limited to only four different occasions that she spoke in the Bible. The first was her dialog with the angel Gabriel:
But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.” “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. For nothing is impossible with God.” “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May it be to me as you have said.” Then the angel left her. (Luke 1:30-38)
There the virgin Mary was willing to go along with the will of God and become pregnant. There is no indication that she had any more information about what would transpire afterwards other than the little bit that Gabriel spoke at this point.
The Words of Mary To Elizabeth
Not too long after that Mary was with Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist, and she spoke the following:
And Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me—holy is his name. His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful to Abraham and his descendants forever, even as he said to our fathers.” (Luke 1:46-55)
Mary is rightly filled with praise and thanksgiving to God for what has miraculously happened to her.
The First Recorded Words of Mary To Jesus
The third time Mary spoke was approximately a dozen years later when the boy Jesus, at the age of twelve, was left behind and found in the Temple:
When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.” “Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?” But they did not understand what he was saying to them. (Luke 2:48-50)
This is the first rebuke the Lord Jesus gave to anyone and it went to Mary in exchange for her attempted verbal chastisement of Jesus.
The Words of Mary at Cana
The fourth and final time we read what the mother of Jesus spoke was about eighteen years later, when Jesus performed his first miracle, which was at a wedding in Cana of Galilee (water into wine):
And when the wine gave out, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.” And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what do I have to do with you? My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it” (John 2:3-5, NASB).
There we have the very last recorded words of the real Mary. Her last words correctly pointed people to Jesus and away from herself.

Jesus Speaks To Mary
Another passage, though different from these others, is still related. It is when Jesus spoke to Mary about John and vice versa. This occurred as the Lord was dying for the sins of the whole world:
When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her into his own household (John 19:26,27).
The Lord Jesus told John to take care of Mary, as he would if she was his natural mother and he was her natural son.
There Are No More Words of Mary
Or Words of Jesus Spoken To Mary
At no other time do we read of any dialog between Jesus and Mary. This is all there is. That is the real Mary of the Bible, but poles apart from the Catholic mother of God! Nothing in any of these passages would lead one to think Mary has any role in our salvation, as hundreds of millions of Catholics have been hazardously taught, by the Roman Pontiffs.
Some might be surprised to learn that many others have spoken more recorded words in the Bible than Mary. Broken down, Mary’s recorded words in Scripture are 172 in 15 verses and they occur only in Luke and John. That means there are twenty five books of the New Testament (or 92%) that have no recorded words from Mary at all. When one considers all of the titles, names, roles and alleged abilities that Mary has been given by present-day Catholicism, it becomes apparent that the source for such is not the same source that gave us the Bible.
In the Bible, we have God’s record for mankind regarding how to find personal salvation, miracles from God, how to pray, who to pray to and trust as well as everything else that would pertain to this life and what man needs from God and how to get it. Never in any of these critically important passages do we have any indication that Mary has any role in salvation, that she is the mediatrix and dispenser of all graces, our refuge and way to God, the sinless queen of heaven or any other such exalted role or title that Catholics envision belongs to her. It would, therefore, be impossible to believe such strange things about Mary if one would merely read and believe the all-important Biblical account, which portrays the real Mary. The words of Mary and the words of Jesus to Mary reveal the truth, like it or not.
Jesus Speaks To Others About Mary
Please consider these other passages where Jesus mentions or refers to his own mother:
While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him.
Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.” He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother” (Mt. 12:46-50).
Then Jesus’ mother and brothers arrived. Standing outside, they sent someone in to call him. A crowd was sitting around him, and they told him, “Your mother and brothers are outside looking for you.” “Who are my mother and my brothers?” he asked. Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.” (Mark 3:31-35)
Now Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see him, but they were not able to get near him because of the crowd. Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.” He replied, “My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.” (Luke 8:19-21)
As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.” He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it” (Luke 11:27,28).
True salvation is never found in a church, organization, denomination, group or any person other than the Son of God. Again, it is only located in the Lord Jesus. Paul taught people in his day to repent (turn from sin) and place their faith [for salvation] in Jesus (Acts 20:21). If we love our natural family more than we love Jesus and/or refuse to take up our cross to follow Jesus here and now, we are not worthy of Him (Mt. 10:37,38). This is God’s truth about salvation.

Please read through the New Testament for yourself. The biblical facts about Mary force us to reject the Catholic view that she is the sinless, co-redeemer and sovereign Queen of heaven, who dispenses ALL grace! Don’t just trust the people who taught you. Carefully read the New Testament for yourself. Your eternal destiny depends on this. Let the words of Mary guide you, that is, the real Mary who spoke John 2:5. The words of Mary will point you to JESUS, the author and finisher of our faith (Heb. 12:2).
