Jesus:  Your Services Are No Longer Needed.  You Are Hereby Discharged

Roger G. Russell 7-15-15

So, America, you have now decided to do away with Jesus Christ.  Good luck with that.

You have taken on no little task.

You have added your name to the scroll of history, to the list of those who have, likewise, taken on the daunting roll.  The highway to hell seems to be paved with the powder ground from those who have already tried it.

The Jews couldn’t do it, not even with the help of the great Roman Empire and its fiddling high priest. The Babylonians quickly saw the hand writing on the wall, the Persians became smashed into colorful rugs, the Ottomans, footstools.  The Arabs only water the sand with the frothing from their lips and blood from their veins.

But go on, America—take your shot at Jesus Christ.  Maybe history was wrong.

Your first task is to destroy the Holy Bible, also no small effort as, it seems, those who have sought to crush the Bible have only seen its feather weight eventually grind them into that already mentioned paving material.

A gay Bible want do it, a homosexual friendly one want, not the one cutely titled, The Queen James Bible.  If the gay Bible works, then maybe we can have other selective Bibles: The Used Car Salesman’s Bible, The Drug Lord’s Bible, The Axe Murderer’s Bible, The Pedophile’s Bible, The Fornicator’s Bible, The Liars’ Bible, The Politician’s Bible, The Lawyer’s Bible.  We merely edit out all the Holy references to our particular vice. But I guess we’ve done that already.

Better laugh now; such enterprises against the Holy Bible historically haven’t finished in smiles.  The King James has taken on all comers, and it is still winner and champion--as it always invariably will be.  Not one jot or tittle of it will ever pass away or be perverted.  But it’s not a very heavy Bible…until it falls on you.

Let a mock president of fools dictate.  Let the perverts dance in the street.  Let a gang of shriveled, already spiritually dead fools issue the final, perverted law of the land.  Let the devil do his damndest.  Read your history.  God is not mocked.  The creation of His hand is not long polluted until great and sometimes unpleasant things happen to the perpetrators.

What can God do to us?  What can’t He do?  He can handcraft a universe, a solar system, a mini-model, an ant farm, a fish bowl with us mere mortals inside bumping our stubborn noses against the glass but never learning.  The sun He hangs in it to warm us never varies its orbit.  It never burns too hot or too cold, never diminishes or burns up; the earth very precisely rotates, iron-locked into the never wobbling orbit.  Your satellite dish may sometimes need realignment, but God’s planets—never.  The rains come, flowers grow, seeds miraculously turn into food—ever and ever.

Hailstones of fire can rain from heaven on selected cities forever obliterating any trace--Sodom and Gomorrah for examples.  Should I mention the great flood?

What can God do?  I shudder to think.

So.  Can America be wised up, dissuaded, made aware of its folly?  Historically speaking, no.  It has chosen its course and given its life’s blood and eternal future to the enterprise of making itself a Jesus-free zone.  The die is forever cast.  God made a few efforts, gave a few periods of grace, gave every opportunity.  All were rejected.  Now we are given over to our own devices, given the desires of our heart.

We never learn.

So what do the few remaining Christians do?  We carry on with the great commission.  Spread the Gospel, save the lost.  Gone are the days of the great Billy Graham crusades--football arenas filled with the spirit of God.  The arenas now are only filled only with the painted heathen screaming for beer and blood.  The days of grace for America are long past.  The spirit now over us is judgment.

What the Christians do now is look up.  We look into our hearts.  We look for any scrap of spirit not of God and we seek Jesus to heal it.  While we look up and in we maintain our churches.  It is our lifeboat.  We band together, all things of God in common though not in the definition of common as plain and ordinary.  The things of God are spectacular and pure and the only means of salvation.

And we save those whom God brings to us.  It will no longer be a nation or a state or a city.  They will come by one and by twos, those whom God leads to us.  And when they come, the little church will be there to receive them in from the storm, to cloth them warmly, dry their tears, to show them Jesus.

But the masses will no longer show up at the church—to find God, that is.

The masses will be seeking other pleasures.  The wages of sin is death.  Great is the way and wide the gate that leads to destruction and many there be that find it; but straight is the gate and narrow the way that leads to eternal life, and precious few find it.  The Bible says it.  We must believe it.  By what wonderful miracle we have found the narrow path and manage to stay on it we can’t fully know, but must fully be thankful.

But if the masses rush down the wide way we must not lose hope.  The Great King James Bible has told us it would be thus.  Not one of its many prophecies has ever failed.  We must glue our own shoes to the narrow path of righteousness and reach out and pluck that stray soul from the broad way as we have the opportunity.  And we dare not make our chuch a house of worldly entertainment to attract them.  Our house must remain a holy house, a house of prayer filled with the spirit of Jesus Christ.

We can’t save the world.  We can’t even save America.  America has served its purpose to God while it looked to Him in praise and love.  It now looks to another lover.  It has decided to go down the broad, dark path to destruction.  We must let it go—as God has let it go in its free will.

We must look to Great God Jehovah and to Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of our faith.  We must keep our flashlight batteries charged and its spotlight ever on the narrow path that God had laid at our blessed feet.  We must be ever vigilant that our feet never stray from that narrow path.  And we must reach out to those that God brings to us and show them our path—our undiluted, untainted, pure, clean, never changed, never changing path just as it was when God gave it in the beginning.  It will lead us to safety.  It will lead us home.
